Spring Summer 2026 Trends Report -Instalment 1
Based on some pretty hefty research - I bring you my musing on the polka-dot craze.
Last year, I was a “no, thanks” — classic polka dots always felt, dare I say it, a bit 'mumsy'. But this year, brands have massively upped their game. There are stunning colour combinations, a mix of small and large spots, interesting textures, and playful designs, so now I’m officially a fan.
I have picked my top five spring-summer pieces that I think are worth investing in now this trend is here to stay.
Nobody's Child - Butter Yellow Leopard Print Kiki Maxi Dress
This is a fabulous dress - love the shape of the dots, the butter yellow is gorgeous and leaning on another strong trend. It comes in a wide range of sizes and lengths - a total winner for me. On Sale £112.
OYSHO - Water-repellent polka dot padded jacket
This swings across two trends, the technical sport style jackets that are everywhere and that I love, and the monochromatic polka dot. Added bonus is that its water-repellent and wind-resistant jacket. Faux fur interior. £69.99
NEXT - Brown/White Polka Dot Slinky Boat Neck Sleeveless Top
A really wearable piece with a stunning flattering shape and neckline that offers a refined and timeless aesthetic. Team with trousers, jeans or a skirt and it will look very put-together. £20
M&S - Linen Rich Drawstring Wide Leg Trousers
These linen-rich trousers are made for smart-casual dressing and are in the classic white and black but with an irregular pattern which can be a bit more edgy that the symmetrical dots. £28
Oliver Bonas - Light Blue & Brown Polka Dot Logo Fabric Tote
This brown and blue colour way is STUNNING - and a top trend for the next season. I also think that an accessory is a fun and simple way to nod towards a trend without full commitment. £26
I am not affiliated to any of these brands or pushing this trend absentmindedly but, we are all fashion fans and they are incredibly versatile.
Wear the dots to weddings, summer beach days, or even to the office. The right spot in the right colour can give your wardrobe an instant update, making you feel fresh and put-together without any fuss.
The tricky part is choosing the right scale, colour and fit for your shape and lifestyle. Get it wrong and your outfit can feel uncomfortable, frustrating, or just “off” all day.
That is where I can help you apply the trend to your wardrobe.
